Welcome to our newest WAITTA Board Directors

At our AGM on 5 November 2020, we were delighted to welcome the following new members to the Board.

Together, Marion, Sue, Simon & Niamh bring a wealth of experience & skills, sharing a commitment to WAITTA’s mission: to promote the Western Australian ICT industry and profession by showcasing excellence through awards, events and recognition programs.

We are looking forward to shaping the future of WAITTA together, as we enter the 30th year of the INCITE awards and see growth in our Game Changers, Alliance 2.0 and Putt4Dough programs. Having strengthened WAITTA’s foundations in Governance and pivoted to digital platforms to showcase the sector, we are poised to drive tech innovation through collaboration at the nexus of public, private & social sectors.

Marion Burchell - Vice President

“I'm excited to join the WAITTA Committee as vice-chair, and look forward to promoting & supporting the use of technology and innovation which I see as key to ensuring we continue to live the prosperous and high quality of life we currently experience. This will only be possible by lifting the capability and capacity for its use to solve challenges.

A key area I see WAITTA can contribute is in the social sector. The not-for-profit sector has signalled a desire to work closely with the technology and innovation talent in WA, to help address key challenges faced in our community.

This presents a unique opportunity for the community to come together to leverage the talent we have and focus this on opportunities to value and add and have a positive impact in people's lives. In doing, it will help to not only connect our community, but help to build new technology and innovations that could be both impactful but also grow businesses and the ecosystem right here in WA.”

Marion Burchell - Vice President

"The INCITE awards have been a fabulous contribution to the WA tech ecosystem, showcasing the breadth of tech innovation talent in this great State. I feel privileged to take up the mantle from Sue who has made an extraordinary contribution to WA's tech sector since 2003 when her journey with WAITA began. Since then, Sue has volunteered thousands of hours of support to award nominees, many of whom went on to enjoy national & international success. One winner said that being an Award winner 'adding a zero to our revenue!"- how's that for impact!

While business can measure success of awards on their bottom line, teams can attest to the value in terms of self-worth and team pride- value beyond profit.

My own introduction to the INCITE Awards was as a team entrant- this experience sparked my passion for innovation and showcasing our tech talent. I can still vividly remember the sense of pride and accomplishment we experienced during the awards preparation and pitch. I'd love for every team to enjoy that experience and want to encourage you to nominate for an award in our 30th year."

Dr Susanne Bahn - Board Director

I also love innovation and WAITTA brings them both together. Joining the WAITTA Board is an opportunity to give back in this exciting area that will lead to life-changing future inventions"

Simon Yeoman - Board Director

"I have a strong desire to support innovation and people entering the IT industry either through start-ups or helping people further their skills through innovative projects and organisation that can support their growth. To help people identify how they can grow through education and nurturing their ambitions, whether that is a corporate path or building the confidence to stand alone and launch an idea."
