Started in 2010, putt4dough has grown into a successful charity golf day, raising more than $800,000 for Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation since inception.

Each year, the event brings together Western Australia's IT industry for a day of golf, networking and fundraising – all to support vital equipment, research and family services that help sick kids across our state.

This year’s event will be held at the Joondalup Resort Golf Club on Tuesday, 18 November. The day begins with 18 holes of 4 ball, Ambrose-style golf followed by the evening's charity auction, dinner and a keynote from guest speaker, former AFL player Ben Cousins.

Celebrating 15 years of making a difference

For Con Polkinghorne, President of WAITTA – putt4dough's organising body - and Chair of the putt4dough program, this milestone year is both a celebration and a call to action.

“Fifteen years ago, putt4dough started as a small idea by founder Chris Marshall as a way for WA’s tech sector to give back. Today, it has grown into a platform for good with more than $800,000 raised for Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation.
“This year, to celebrate our 15th anniversary, we want to make an even bigger impact. Thank you to Ben Cousins for joining us as guest speaker to help us raise vital funds for WA kids and their families.”

Cousins, who played 270 AFL games and captained the West Coast Eagles, said he was looking forward to being part of such a meaningful local event.

“I’ve been fortunate to experience some amazing highs on the footy field, and I’ve faced my share of challenges off it. What I’ve learned is that community, resilience and support make all the difference,” Cousins said.
“putt4dough is a great example of a community coming together for a cause bigger than themselves. I’m proud to play a small part in helping give WA kids the best chance at a healthy future.”

A community effort

Over the past decade and a half, putt4dough has brought together a remarkable cross-section of WA’s business and technology community.

From major sponsors – including multi-year Major Sponsor Arista Networks - to small local operators, the event’s success lies in the generosity and spirit of everyone involved.

Funds raised through putt4dough go directly to Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, helping to purchase life-saving equipment, fund world-class research, and support programs that ease the journey for children and their families through treatment and recovery.

This year in particular, the event will raise funds for life-like simulation training manikins.

The joyous arrival of a newborn can quickly turn to heartbreak when a baby is born too soon.

The Foundation estimates 1 in 10 babies are born prematurely, putting them at risk of serious medical problems and lifelong disability.

Innovative teaching solutions such as manikins provide practical training for professionals to increase capability and knowledge to assist in real-life situations.

Polkinghorne said it’s this impact that keeps people coming back to putt4dough year after year.

“Every dollar raised at putt4dough goes towards giving kids the care they need, when they need it most. That’s what drives us. It’s why our volunteers, sponsors and players put so much energy into making this event bigger and better each year,” he said.
