The Department of Computing is one of the five departments in the Faculty of
Science and Computing at the Curtin University of Technology. The Department
is active in research and has a full graduate program. Areas of research
include: Artificial Intelligence, Large-scale Pattern Recognition, Computer
Graphics, Parallel and Distributed computing and Database Management.

This application presents the Honours thesis project conducted by Miss Nan
Ning from the Department of Computing, Curtin University of Technology. This
project proposes a novel approach for tracking the movement of a criminal or
terrorist across a large-scale distributed system comprising both moving and
static cameras. Such an integral approach at managing the system would
ensure greater data inter-operability and scalability, maximising the
strategic significance of using them to counter terror/crime.
