Award Categories

There are 10 awards detailed below. (Note the Infrastructure award is a single award, to be entered through one of the two categories.)  Click on an award name for more information about the award including the judging criteria that will be applied, and to make a submission for that award.

Achiever

The Achiever award recognises an individuals outstanding contribution to the ICT industry in WA. Past winners include IS managers, academics and persons who have built significant ICT organisations in WA. Nominations for this award may be made with or without the knowledge of the person being nominated.

Only the winner of this category will be announced at the Awards.

CIO of the Year

The CIO of the Year is awarded to the CIO based in WA demonstrating the most substantial improvement in the performance of their organisation based on excellence in ICT leadership and innovation.

Exporter

The Exporter award recognises the contribution of a WA organisation to the profile of ICT at an international level. The products and/or services are evaluated according to the volume of export business actually achieved as well as the attention paid to quality and innovation. This award also encompasses services or products that do not necessitate physical travel but involve remote delivery such as education delivery at university level, help desk services etc.

The award requires that the nominee is currently exporting.

Infrastructure - Innovative

To cater for the broad band of Infrastructure entries, there are TWO entry categories so please refer to categories and select ONE of the two Infrastructure options to ensure the merits of your entry are appropriately assessed.

1. For predominately innovative projects enter using 'Infrastructure - Innovative'.

2. For predominately large scale and/or complex projects enter using 'Infrastructure - Large Scale and / or Complex'.

THERE WILL ONLY BE ONE WINNER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE

The Infrastructure award recognises excellence in a broad category of ICT solutions implemented within or for an organisation that resides in WA. The scope of the award covers both physical solutions  hardware, software, networks etc; and strategic business solutions implemented to improve an organisations operations. Business solutions may include, but are not limited to, new approaches to using ICT for process control, Plant & Machinery Control Systems, Innovative systems etc. Entrants are required to specify whether they feel their entry should be judged more for its innovation or for its size and complexity.

Infrastructure - Large Scale and / or Complex

To cater for the broad band of Infrastructure entries, there are TWO entry categories so please refer to categories and select ONE of the two Infrastructure options to ensure the merits of your entry are appropriately assessed.

Innovation

The Innovation award recognises the development of a product or service that breaks new ground  but is yet to be commercialised. It may not yet be proven in the marketplace but an understanding of the potential market must be demonstrated. The product or service could include hardware, software, services  such as training or support, telecommunications, new techniques or any similar innovation or a unique combination of technologies. Nominated organisations need to operate from or within WA.

Product

The Product award recognises an outstanding ICT product developed by a WA organisation. The award covers the whole field of ICT (software, hardware, firmware etc) and can be from an established or start-up organisation. The Product must have moved on from the conceptual stage and into production and sales. If the Product has not yet reached this phase refer to the Innovation category.

Regional

The Regional award recognises an outstanding ICT product, project or service provided by a WA individual or organisation located in regional and country areas of the State. Nominees should demonstrate how they use regional resources in the development and delivery of their product or service, and how effectively it meets a specific regional need.

Security

The Security award recognises excellence and innovation in an application of software and/or hardware in security and surveillance to protect data, computers, networks, traffic and infrastructure; aid digital forensic investigation or minimise anti-forensics, or provide counter security. Nominations should be for a product, project or service delivered predominantly from or within WA.

Evidence of completeness and viability or a significant trial implementation is required.

Service Delivery & Training

The Service Delivery and Training award recognises excellence and/or innovation in the provision of ICT services. This broad category may include, but is not limited to, all types of services from training, outsourcing, call centres, network and billing service providers, and contract and billing management. Nominations should be for a service delivered predominantly from within WA or for an organisation based within this State.

Tertiary Student Project

The Tertiary Student Project award recognises a student project, up to and including undergraduate or honours level, undertaken during the year by the student or student group who are registered as active undergraduate students at a WA tertiary education institution, such as a college or university. Emphasis is placed on practical ICT applications.
